What is GLP-2?

GLP-2 (research designation LY3298176) is a synthetic 39-amino-acid peptide and a dual agonist of two distinct receptors: glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor (GIPR) and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R). With a molecular weight of approximately 4,813.5 Da, it was first described in published metabolic research in 2018. GLP-2 is studied in research models that investigate combined incretin pathway signaling, glucose homeostasis mechanisms, and dual-receptor activation pharmacology — distinguishing it from selective GLP-1 receptor agonists such as GLP-1. Also referenced as LY3298176, GIP/GLP-1 dual agonist, GLP-2, it is supplied as a lyophilized powder for laboratory reference use.
