What is PT-141?
PT-141 (Bremelanotide) is a synthetic 7-amino-acid cyclic peptide derived from Melanotan II, modified to remove the C-terminal lysine and amidation. Its sequence is Ac-Nle-cyclo[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-OH with a molecular weight of approximately 1,025.2 Da, and it was developed in the early 2000s. PT-141 is studied in research models as a non-selective melanocortin receptor agonist with notable activity at MC4R, with research applications investigating central melanocortin system function and neurobehavioral signaling pathways. Also referenced as Bremelanotide, PT 141, or PT-141 10mg, it is supplied as a lyophilized powder for laboratory reference use.
